Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract.
In a separate bowl, combine the almond flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
