Instructions
Preparation Steps
On a foil-lined 11x7 baking dish or silicone brownie bite pan, arrange almonds in a single layer and set aside.
In a heavy saucepan, combine unsalted butter, margarine, granulated sugar, kosher salt, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until butter melts and mixture reaches a rolling boil.
Continue boiling and stirring for 5 to 7 minutes until the candy turns the color of almonds (about 300°F). Quickly pour the toffee mixture over the almonds, spreading evenly.
Allow the toffee to cool completely and set, about 2 hours.
Spread melted milk chocolate over the cooled toffee and sprinkle generously with ground walnuts. Let the chocolate set before cutting into pieces or removing from pan. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
This almond toffee is a timeless treat that’s easy to make and perfect for sharing. For a glossy chocolate finish, ensure to wipe excess butter off the toffee before adding chocolate.
