apple butter

Deliciously smooth apple butter with warm spices, perfect for spreading on toast or adding to your favorite recipes.

  • 4 lb apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions
 

Preparation Steps

  • Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt in a large slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours until the apples are very soft.
  • Use an immersion blender to puree the apple mixture until smooth.
  • Add apple cider vinegar and stir well.
  • Cook uncovered on low for an additional 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened to desired consistency.
  • Transfer the apple butter to sterilized jars and let cool before sealing.

Notes

Store apple butter refrigerated for up to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
