Bourbon Chicken Recipe

This delicious bourbon chicken recipe is easy to make and perfect for a weeknight dinner. Tender chicken pieces are coated in a sweet and savory bourbon sauce, then slow-cooked to perfection.

  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Preparation Steps

  • In a slow cooker, combine bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Add the chicken thighs to the slow cooker and stir to coat.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
  • Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and set aside.
  • Turn the slow cooker to high. Pour the cornstarch slurry into the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Return the chicken to the slow cooker and toss to coat in the thickened sauce.
  • Serve the bourbon chicken over rice, noodles, or your favorite side dishes.

Notes

Serve with a side of rice and steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
