Butter Chicken

This recipe is a delicious and easy-to-make Butter Chicken. Tender chicken pieces simmered in a creamy tomato-based sauce with aromatic spices. Perfect for a cozy dinner!

  • 1.5 lb Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 inch Ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 tsp Red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can Crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Butter
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and butter. Heat through. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan.

Notes

Serve with warm naan bread and basmati rice for a complete meal. Adjust the chili powder to your spice preference.
