Preparation Steps
In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Stir in chili powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt, mixing well to coat the meat and onions.
Add the diced tomatoes with their juices, kidney beans, and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
