Instructions
Making the Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Stir in boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Making the Frosting
In a large bowl, beat butter until smooth.
Gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until smooth and creamy.
Assembly
Frost the cooled cake.
