  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder preferably Dutch-processed
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk room temperature
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix well until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
