Chocolate Toffee Fudge Bars

Ingredients
  

Graham Cracker Crust

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted

Toffee Fudge Layer

  • 14 ounce sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 ounce semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Heath toffee bits

Chocolate Chip Cookie Topping

  • 0.75 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1.25 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 12 ounce milk chocolate morsels
  • 0.5 cup Heath toffee bits

Preparation Steps

  • In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press firmly into the bottom of a parchment paper-lined 13x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate morsels, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth. Pour this mixture over the graham cracker crust. Sprinkle with 0.5 cup of toffee bits.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the shortening, light brown sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Beat in the egg. Add the flour, kosher salt, baking soda, and cinnamon, mixing until just combined. Fold in the milk chocolate morsels. Spread this cookie dough mixture evenly over the fudge layer. Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of toffee bits over the top.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30-35 minutes, or until the cookie dough appears lightly undercooked. The bars will set up as they cool. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

These bars are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
