Rich, fudgy coffee brownies with a hint of espresso.

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 0.75 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder dutch-processed
  • 0.5 tsp Baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp Salt
  • 0.75 cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Instant espresso powder
  • 0.75 cup Hot coffee

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until smooth.

  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and espresso powder.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with hot coffee, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  • Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

These brownies are best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
