Ingredients

  • 1 lb 0.45 kg fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons 0.1 lb olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup 0.05 lb grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Green Beans

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • In a large bowl, toss the green beans with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Step 2: Roast the Green Beans

  • Spread the green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Roast for 15–20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the beans are tender and lightly browned.

Step 3: Add the Parmesan

  • Remove the green beans from the oven and sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Return the beans to the oven for an additional 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese melts and becomes slightly golden.

Step 4: Serve and Garnish

  • Optional: Add a sprinkle of lemon zest over the beans before serving for a burst of freshness.
  • Serve hot as a side dish with your favorite main course.

Notes

  • Substitutions: Swap Parmesan for Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
  • Add-ins: Try adding sliced almonds or crumbled bacon for extra texture.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or a skillet for the best results.
  • Make it Spicy: Add red pepper flakes for a hint of heat.
