garlic breadsticks

Soft and buttery garlic breadsticks brushed with melted butter and topped with garlic salt. Perfect as an appetizer or side for any meal.

  • 1 cup water warmed to about 110-115°F, plus 2 tablespoons
  • 1.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons kosher salt

Preparation Steps

  • In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast blooms.
  • Add salt, olive oil, and bread flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined, adding extra flour if needed until dough pulls away from bowl sides.
  • Switch to dough hook and knead on medium speed for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Shape dough into a ball and place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Punch down dough to deflate and divide into 12 equal balls.
  • Roll each ball into a 9-inch rope and place on prepared baking sheets. Cover and let rise in warm place for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F when dough is almost risen.
  • Bake breadsticks for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush baked breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and kosher salt. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving for best taste.
