German Chocolate Cake Frosting

A rich and decadent coconut-pecan frosting perfect for German Chocolate Cake.

  • 1 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter Cut into pieces
  • 3 large Egg Yolks Lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Shredded Coconut Sweetened or unsweetened
  • 1 cup Pecans Chopped

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolks.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, coconut, and pecans.
  • Let cool slightly before frosting cake.

Notes

Best when used immediately after cooling slightly. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator.
