  • 0.33 cup barbecue sauce
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced or pressed
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce optional and to taste for spiciness
  • 1.25 pounds fresh shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper for seasoning
  • fresh lemon wedges for serving
  • fresh cilantro or parsley optional for garnishing

Preparation Steps

  • Combine barbecue sauce, honey, garlic, and sriracha in a medium bowl; stir well. Divide mixture into two portions, one for brushing shrimp while grilling and one for serving as a dipping sauce.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat or heat an indoor grill pan.
  • Thread about 5 to 6 shrimp onto metal or soaked wooden skewers; repeat for all shrimp.
  • Brush shrimp with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • Grill shrimp for 2 minutes on one side.
  • Flip shrimp and brush the cooked side with the barbecue sauce mixture.
  • Grill for 2 minutes on the second side, continuously brushing sauce and flipping every 30 to 60 seconds until shrimp are cooked through but not overdone.
  • Drizzle shrimp with fresh lemon juice, garnish with cilantro or parsley if desired, and serve immediately with reserved dipping sauce.
