Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken Recipe

  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs boneless, skinless
  • 0.5 cup shoyu sauce or soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Preparation Steps

  • Combine the shoyu sauce, brown sugar, water, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the chicken thighs to the sauce, cover and simmer for 25 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Serve the chicken hot with the sauce over rice.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
