Homemade Cookie Mix Jar

  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (9 ounces)

Preparation Steps

  • In a large mason jar, layer the ingredients in the following order: flour, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chocolate chips. Ensure each layer is packed down gently.
  • To bake, empty the jar's contents into a large bowl. Add 0.75 cup softened butter, 1 large egg, and 0.75 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Attach a tag to the jar with the baking instructions: "To make cookies, preheat oven to 375°F. Combine jar ingredients with 3/4 cup softened butter, 1 large egg, and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack."
