How to Make Pesto

A classic pesto recipe using fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil.

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 cup pine nuts
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Combine basil, pine nuts, and garlic in a food processor.
  • Pulse until finely chopped.
  • Add Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  • Pulse again to combine.
  • With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until a paste forms.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

Notes

Serve pesto with pasta, as a sandwich spread, or as a dip.
