Irish potato pie

A savory pie with a flaky crust filled with seasoned mashed potatoes and sometimes meat.

  • 3 pounds Potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 0.5 cup Butter
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 pound Ground beef (optional)
  • 1 onion Onion, chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Flour (optional)
  • 1 box Pie crust

Instructions
 

Preparation Steps

  • Boil potatoes until tender, drain and mash.
  • Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to mashed potatoes.
  • If using ground beef, brown with onion; drain fat and add flour.
  • Line pie dish with crust, add mashed potatoes (and meat mixture if using).
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes.
