Kentucky Butter Cake

This Kentucky Butter Cake is a buttery, moist, and delicious cake that's perfect for any occasion. It's infused with a rich butter glaze that takes it over the top!

Cake Ingredients

  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cake Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Glaze Instructions

  • While the cake is baking, make the glaze. In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, poke holes all over the top with a skewer or toothpick. Pour the warm glaze over the cake.
  • Let the cake cool completely in the pan before serving.

Notes

This cake is best served at room temperature. Enjoy!
