Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add milk, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a 1-inch thick round. Use a 2-inch biscuit cutter to cut out scones.
Place scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For best results, use very cold ingredients and handle the dough as little as possible.
