Oven-Fried Chicken

Crispy, juicy chicken baked in the oven for a healthier take on fried chicken.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Chicken pieces Bone-in, skin-on
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Low fat
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Coating

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • In a bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Soak chicken pieces in the buttermilk mixture for at least 20 minutes.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  • Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, pressing to ensure the coating adheres well. Place on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 40 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and golden brown. Flip the chicken halfway through cooking for even browning.

Notes

For extra crispy chicken, place the baking sheet under the broiler for the last few minutes of cooking. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
