Potato Sausage Chowder

This hearty potato sausage chowder is the perfect comfort food for a chilly evening. It's packed with savory sausage, tender potatoes, and a creamy broth that will warm you from the inside out.

  • 1 pound Smoked Sausage Sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Onion Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 pounds Russet Potatoes Diced
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup Cheddar Cheese Shredded, for garnish
  • 0.25 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the sausage slices over medium-high heat. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  • Add olive oil to the pot. Sauté the onion until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and add the diced potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Return the sausage to the pot and heat through.
  • Serve hot, garnished with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh parsley.

Notes

This chowder is even better the next day! Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
