Seared Scallops

A delightful and easy-to-prepare recipe of perfectly seared scallops.

  • 1.5 pounds scallops fresh or thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Preparation Steps

  • Rinse the scallops under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Season the scallops with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the scallops to the skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Lower the heat to medium, add butter and garlic to the skillet, and cook until the butter melts.
  • Serve the scallops hot, with the butter sauce drizzled over them.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice over the scallops before serving.
