Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Alternate adding the flour and milk to the batter, starting and ending with the flour. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
