Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Classic sweet and sour meatballs recipe, perfect for a weeknight dinner. Serve over rice or noodles.

Ingredients
  

Meatballs

  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Plain
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper

Sweet and Sour Sauce

  • 1 cup Pineapple Juice
  • 0.5 cup White Vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients. Mix well and form into 1-inch meatballs.

  • Place meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • While meatballs are baking, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a saucepan, whisk together pineapple juice, white vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch.
    1 lb Ground Beef
  • Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
  • Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and stir to coat. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds, if desired.
