Tamale Pie Recipe

A hearty and flavorful Tamale Pie recipe, perfect for a comforting weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Lean
  • 1 cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz, undrained
  • 1 can Corn 15 oz, drained
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning
  • 1 cup Water

Cornbread Topping

  • 1 box Cornbread Mix
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.

  • Stir in onion, diced tomatoes, corn, taco seasoning, and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Pour the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, prepare the cornbread batter according to package directions. Pour the batter evenly over the beef mixture.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
